Witness to occupation’s crimes: the lives of women are at risk in occupied Afrin

An elderly woman from the occupied canton of Afrin at the age of 65, who witnessed the crimes of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries committed against civilians in Afrin, says that she was unable to go to the olive fields for two years, due to the harassment of the Turkish occupation.

Because of her association with her land and the olive trees, the elderly woman (K,A) decided to return to her village of Kafr Shelley, which is affiliated with the occupied Afrin canton, after being displaced on the eighteenth of March 2018, by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, to al-Shahba forcibly.

The Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries launched aggression against Afrin canton in January 20, 2018, and occupied the canton in March 18 of the same year.

One and a half months after the displacement of civilians from occupied Afrin, the elderly (K,A) decided to return to her village of Kafr Shelley, which is minutes away from the city center.

Citizen (K, A) did not realize the brutality of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries against the peoples, and in particular against the Kurdish people.

I stayed in the occupied canton of Afrin for nearly two years, and witnessed the crimes committed by the Turkish occupation army and mercenary groups against unarmed civilians.

When she returned to Al-Shahbaa canton, she told "Hawar News Agency" the practices committed by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries against civilians in Afrin.

Mercenaries of the Turkish occupation are killing civilians because of money

Regarding the practices committed by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries in the occupied Afrin, (K, A) said, "For a sum of money estimated at 100 thousand liras, the mercenary of Firqat Hamzat of the Turkish Intelligence killed two citizens in the village of Kafr Shilley, namely Mohiuddin Abu Aziz reached 85-year-old and his elderly wife, where the man was killed by suffocation as well as being hit by a sharp object in the head and shot, while his wife was killed by beatings and torture. "

On the other hand, the Turkish occupation mercenaries killed a man near the Maarat roundabout in the center of the occupied Afrin for a sum of 35,000 liras.

The kidnappings targeted women, especially in the occupied Afrin canton

Regarding the kidnappings, the citizen (K, A) said that the lives of women in Afrin are at risk. Besides the killing and torture of civilians, kidnappings of women continue in the occupied Afrin region.

Citizen (K, A) pointed out that the mercenaries of Amshat under the command of the Turkish occupation, kidnapped a twenty-year-old girl from the village of Hassan of the Raju district, took her to the city of Idlib, and she was abused and tortured and is now in Al-Dana hospital in Idlib countryside receiving treatment and her health is poor.

In the area of ​​Jandares, (K, A) said that Ahrar Sharqia mercenaries had kidnapped a woman on the pretext of photographing their neighbor’s house in Al-Shahba district and sending pictures of the house to her friends.

On the other hand, Ahrar al-Sham mercenaries asked for a sum of money from a citizen in the village of Ghazawiya, and because of his failure to pay the money, they kidnapped his 19-year-old daughter in the center of Afrin district, who was returning from her school.

Mercenaries of Ahrar al-Sham also kidnapped an eight-year-old girl, near Kawa Haddad roundabout in the center of the occupied Afrin canton, and the child's fate remains unknown.

Violations against civilians continue in the occupied Afrin

The General Assembly noted that mercenaries arbitrarily and brutally are kidnapping civilians on the pretext of dealing with the Autonomous Administration and the People’s and Women’s Protection Units.

"Because of the bombings and kidnappings, we cannot get out of our homes, and live our lives in a normal and stable way. For two years, I have not walked through my land and my agricultural crops, and I have not seen olive trees."

She noted that the conditions of civilians in the occupied Afrin region are bad in all respects.

Citizenship (K, A) appealed to international organizations to intervene and consider the conditions of civilians in the occupied Afrin and the practices committed by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries against them.

 

It is noteworthy that the citizenship (K, A) exited Afrin canton about a month ago and is now present in Fafin district, and is determined to stay in al-Shahba district and to continue the resistance like the rest of the displaced until they return to their homes.
