US, European countries call for Security Council meeting on Sudan

The United States and five European countries have called for a UN Security Council consultation session to discuss the situation in Sudan.

The "Agence France Presse" reported from diplomatic sources that a meeting is expected to be held on Friday, the European countries that called for are Germany, France, Britain, Belgium and Poland as well as the US to discuss the situation in Sudan after the announcement of the Sudanese army, in a statement issued on Thursday, the arrest and custody of President Omar al-Bashir, and the start of the transitional period.
