U.S. Defense Secretary: not to provide air support to Turkey in Idlib

U.S. Defense Secretary, Mark Esper announced that his country will not provide air support to Turkey in its military operation in Syria's Idlib province.

Esper told reporters on Monday that the United States will seek to increase its humanitarian assistance to Turkey in the wake of the attack that killed 33 Turkish soldiers in Idlib last week.

When asked whether U.S. assistance would include air support, Esper replied, "No."

The US Defense Secretary added that he had discussed with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg the situation in Syria, and that NATO had confirmed its readiness for "any emergency that may occur."
