US Central Command: the security mechanism prevents reviving of ISIS, allows SDF to focus on its defeat

The continued success of the security mechanism will prevent ISIS from re-emerging in northern and eastern Syria and "allow the coalition and our SDF partners to remain focused on defeating ISIS," the US Central Command said.

The United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) and the European Command of the United States (USEUCOM) will hold a meeting this week with the leaders of the Turkish General Staff in Ankara. This is to discuss the main issues related to the implementation of the security mechanism in northern and eastern Syria.

Thomas William Bergison, a US Air Force lieutenant, who is deputy commander of US Central Command, and Stephen Tite, who is deputy commander of the US European Command, will meet with their Turkish counterparts this week to discuss future support for the Joint Operations Center (CJOC) and key activities. Other that support the progress and management of the security mechanism.

Centcom pointed out, that coordination and consultation between the United States and Turkey is the key to address Turkey's security concerns in the region, "The United States and Turkey are working together for the rapid implementation of the security mechanism. The first joint ground patrol was conducted on Sunday in northern and eastern Syria."

Centcom said the continued success of the security mechanism will prevent ISIS from re-emerging in northern and eastern Syria, and "allow the coalition and our SDF partners to remain focused on defeating ISIS."
