Turkish occupation army burns tens of hectares west of Kobane

Firing by the Turkish occupation army stationed in Jarabulus area on agricultural fields west of Kobane canton caused fires in more than 80 hectares of wheat and barley.

Nearly 80 hectares of farmland were burned in a number of villages west of Kobane on Sunday.

The wheat and barley lands between the village of Zor Megar far west of the canton and the town of Sheikhs saw large fires that devoured more than 40 hectares, after the Turkish occupation army deliberately fired from Jarabulus towards the eastern banks of the Euphrates River.

At the same time,  30-hectare  of lands in the villages of Binder and Mashko were burned, as well.  Another fire started between Jaqal and Katash. It is estimated the burned area in the two villages amounts to 12 hectares.

Fire trucks, along with villagers, were able to stop the fires from spreading to other agricultural areas.

This is the second fire in the canton this year, two days after the fires in the eastern village of Sarzuri.
