Turkish lira is 2nd worst currency after Brazilian rial

The Turkish lira fell to an unprecedented level against the dollar, today, as investors' attention focused on potential steps for the central bank to tighten the monetary policy ahead of a policy meeting, next Thursday.

The Turkish lira touched a low of 7.5660, retreating from yesterday's close (Thursday), at 7.5595, according to "Reuters" news agency.

The Turkish lira has fallen by more than 21 percent against the US currency since the beginning of this year to become the second worst performing currency in emerging markets after the Brazilian rial.
