"Turkey exploits refugees and must be held accountable for its crimes"

The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) explained that Turkey is exploiting Syrian refugees to legitimize its occupation, and called on the United Nations and human rights organizations to abide by their legal, human rights and humanitarian responsibilities and to stop the Turkish aggression on northern and eastern Syria and hold the occupiers accountable.

The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) in Tirbespiyê denounced the Turkish state's exploitation of Syrian refugees to legitimize its occupation and the occupation of more Syrian lands, in a statement delivered today, in front of the movement's center in the district by the co-chair of (TEV-DEM) in the district Ghalia Hussein.

The statement pointed out that "Since the ninth of October 2019, the Turkish occupation began a barbaric attack on Syrian territory under the pretext of establishing a safe zone, although its attacks aimed at ending the presence of indigenous peoples in northern and eastern Syria, and although these areas were one of the most secure areas of Syria, but It turns out that the Turkish state is exploiting Syrian refugees as a pressure and blackmail card for Western countries, and it puts it as an excuse to occupy more Syrian territory.

The statement called on the United Nations and human rights organizations to abide by their legal, human and humanitarian responsibilities to stop the Turkish aggression on the north and east of Syria and to hold the occupied Turkish state accountable for criminal operations contrary to international values, laws, and to end its occupation on Syrian land.
