Teresa May will announce her departure today

British Prime Minister Teresa May will announce her departure on Friday, British newspapers reported.

"Teresa May will announce her departure from Downing Street on Friday morning," the BBC said on its website, quoting members of the administration of the prime minister who asked not to be identified.

Conservative Prime Minister Graham Brady will meet with the chairman of the 1922 Committee, which is responsible for the Conservative organization. According to "the Times", she will present on this occasion the details of her departure, especially the timetable.

The 62-year-old may remain in her post for six weeks until the Conservatives choose her successor and will be in office when US President Donald Trump visits the United Kingdom from June 3 to 5.

Teresa May took over as prime minister in 2016, after Britons voted 52 percent in June 23.
