The statement was made by a spokesman for the Syrian Democratic Forces, Kino Gabriel, who responded to a statement issued by the Syrian Foreign Ministry sent by two letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council, claiming that the Syrian Democratic Forces committed massacres in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The text of the statement:
"The Syrian Foreign Ministry has sent two simultaneous letters to the UN Security Council and the United Nations, where a series of lies and fabrications against our forces which liberated the Deir ez-Zor region and continues to pursue terrorist cells in that region.
Our forces are pursuing terrorist cells linked to Daesh. These cells cross the Euphrates River from the West Bank, which is controlled by the central government in Damascus and its affiliated militias, where the organization promotes these areas for safe movement towards the eastern Euphrates areas and organizes attacks targeting the lives of people in liberated areas. The Syrian government was supposed to look for a genuine national partnership to combat terrorism and coordinate with our forces and the International Coalition to eliminate terror instead of taking this hostile attitude towards us and continuing to support terrorism by marketing legal grounds to secure a legal cover that protects terrorists and ignores the efforts of our forces and their decisive role in victory. And therefore it is called upon to deal objectively with this issue from the perspective of the Syrian national interest, which calls for coordinating all efforts and unifying them to eliminate the danger of Daesh, not to escape forward and raise complaints to international institutions in order to support terrorism.
