The SDF media center announced a statement in this regard, in which it said:
"Deir ez-Zor region has witnessed in recent days a number of developments that ISIS terrorist organization was behind, aiming to hit the security and stability in the region by moving its sleeper cells to cause chaos.
In recent months, our forces have carried out a number of operations and combing campaigns that targeted ISIS cells and inflicted severe pain on them, arrested many terrorists and confiscated many weapons and ammunition. Therefore, the terrorist organization, after failing in its criminal designs, is resorting today to creating Kurdish Arab strife among the components of the region, causing a rift among the co-existing components hundreds of years ago, striking the stability and safety, and trying to restore chaos to the region.
In the past days, ISIS cells have targeted social figures and tribal heads in the region and promoted through their supporters accusations against the SDF of responsibility for targeting the clan elders. Likewise, the sleeper cells and through suicide bombs and suicide attacks have attempted to target the headquarters and barracks of our forces in order to control them, as some groups are trying to control. Other parties take advantage of this situation and achieve goals at the expense of the blood of the people of the region, push the conditions towards more tension and try to use people's feelings and emotions to divert attention from ISIS terrorism and incite people against the Autonomous Administration.
Therefore, the Internal Security Forces in cooperation with the Syrian Democratic Forces started a security campaign targeting ISIS cells, as well as the cells of those bodies that are trying to take advantage of these conditions in order to eliminate the focus of strife, especially in the towns of Shuhail and Huwaij which are a stronghold of ISIS cells.
A group of special operations that targeted the cells were carried out, and to spare civilians any security incidents, our forces were very careful and professional to detain the gunmen without inflicting harm to the civilians.
These operations led to the arrest of numbers of terrorists and suspects, and a number of them were injured while trying to confront our forces. Likewise, our forces confiscated quantities of weapons and ammunition, and the operations still continues.
It is worth mentioning that two of our fighters rose to the level of martyrdom as a result of the attacks carried out by ISIS cells on our headquarters and barracks, and three of our fighters were wounded.
We reaffirm to the public opinion that our forces are more determined than ever before to carry out our operations to completely dismantle and eliminate ISIS cells."
