The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement published on Monday evening that the delegation headed by the Special Envoy of the Russian President for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev discussed with al-Assad the situation in Syria in details with the participation of the Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Vershinin and officials from the Ministry of Defense.
The statement pointed out that the two sides discussed the special tasks of establishing sustainable stability with the elimination of the remaining hotbeds of terrorism, in addition to the procedures for providing full humanitarian assistance to all those in need on the country's lands to contribute to the voluntary, safe and dignified return of refugees and displaced persons.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the meeting also touched on issues of the political settlement process led and implemented by the Syrians themselves with the support of the United Nations, including the continued work of the Constitutional Committee in Geneva.
In turn, the Syrian regime presidency stated that the talks dealt with the situation in Aleppo and Idlib in light of the daily terrorist attacks on the safe areas, and the civilian casualties.
