Russia: arbitrary Israeli strikes in Syria undermine regional security

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has announced that arbitrary Israeli air strikes against Syria are contributing to heightening tension in the region.

"Israel's continued unilateral aerial bombardment against Syrian territory and a violation of the sovereignty of the neighboring Arab countries is cause for concern," Zakharova said in a briefing.

According to Zakharova, "the last attack carried out on 5 March by Lebanese airplanes from Lebanese airspace, which killed a Syrian soldier and wounded more than 10 others."

"We believe that such arbitrary actions undermine regional security and contribute to increased tension," she added.

Israel launched many raids on sites in Syria that it says belonged to Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah, and the frequency of the raids increased after the Russian-Israeli meetings, especially the Jerusalem summit.
