Roj News: Kurdistan national union "PUK" adopts joint presidency system

The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) announced its adoption of the party's joint presidency system and ending the post of general secretary, following leaks that both Pavel Talabani and Lahore Janki Talabani were elected to the post, but the party denied naming the two co-chairs so far.

The PUK's leadership council continues to hold its meetings as part of the debate and vote on the articles of the party's rules of procedure.

The leadership council voted on the party's joint presidency system and no one has been nominated for the two positions, The Roj News Agency quoted PUK leadership council meeting supervisor Mustafa Jarush at a press conference.

The meeting is part of a series of meetings of the Council several days ago where it votes on the articles of the rules of procedure, and has so far voted on more than 50 articles out of 77 articles, the sum of the articles of the rules of procedure approved by the Fourth General Conference on 21 December 2019.

According to media reports, the council voted for Pavel Talabani and Lahore Sheikh Janki for the joint presidency of the party. Jarush denied the reports, calling on the media not to broadcast the news until it is confirmed, stressing it to rely on official and relevant sources.

The National Union held its fourth conference last December.

The Autonomous administration in North and East of Syria, since its founding and some parties, has adopted a common presidency on equality and the basis of gender harmony.
