Regime declares that it thwarted hostile target from northern Lebanon

The Syrian regime said its air defense destroyed a hostile missile coming from northern Lebanon towards the city of Masyaf in Hama late on Thursday.

Syrian military source said its air defenses spotted a missile fired at Masyaf in Hama province late on Thursday and destroyed it before hitting its target.

"Our air defense media uncovered a hostile target from northern Lebanon towards the city of Masyaf and immediately dealt with it and destroyed it before reaching its target," the source said.

Israel has stepped up targeting of what it says are Iranian and Lebanese Hezbollah positions inside Syrian territory, especially after the Jerusalem summit, which brought together Russia, the United States and Israel, where Moscow has stressed Israel's security.

Russia delivered the regime sophisticated antiaircraft that apparently prohibits its use against Israeli aircraft and missiles.
