Dozens of members of Intellectuals' Unions gathered in northern Syria at the women's free square in the city of Kobani to announce the start of the "Olive Convey" campaign.
During the campaign of the olive convoy, the Intellectual Union in North Syria from the Euphrates to the Tigris will plant olive trees in these areas as much as the 366 villages of Afrin, as 366 trees will be planted in the Euphrates region, and the same number in the Al-Jazeera region.
The statement reads as follows:
On the occasion of the anniversary of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, they launched their attacks on the Afrin canton on the 20th January, and made this day a world day of solidarity with Afrin and on the occasion year passed of wounds, blood and sacrifices by the jihadist factions, where hundreds of thousands of people were forced to leave their homes due to the massacres committed against them, and deprived hundreds of thousands of children from studying, threatening their national identity and culture and their future, while the occupation forces continue the policy of pillaging the people, kidnapping women, killing children and changing the demographic Afrin through the settlement of mercenaries and their families in order to undermine the stability and coexistence that the region used to enjoy.
All that happened to the Kurds over the centuries and also during the Syrian war by the countries hostile to the Kurdish project, the last of which was the occupation of Afrin and violation of all human and moral values and the targeting of the natural heritage irrigated with bloods of Afrin children.
The olive that built our bodies, our blood and our memories, the olives that our ancestors talked about, the olives that entered our Kurdish veins and went far away, the olives that made us from its branches crowns to the fighters of (YPG and YPJ)
Therefore, for every drop of blood we prayed for Afrin, for every olive was raped, we are in the cultural institutions in Rojava and under the slogan "Afrin ... we will blossom again." We launch the Olive Convey campaign in fulfillment of the blood of the martyrs and continuation of the spirit of resistance and enrichment of life in the areas of East Euphrates. This is a challenge to attempt changing the demographic of the Kurdish Afrin, and to strengthen the culture of belonging to the land, and the commemoration and sanctification of the olives in the memory of the Kurds in particular and the Syrians in general.
On the first anniversary of the resistance of Afrin and the duty to carry her identity to all the land of Rojava, a campaign began to plant 366 olive trees in the number of wounded villages of Afrin from the Euphrates River to the Tigris River.
The statement was signed by "Intellectuals Union of Rojava Kurdistan, Intellectuals Union in al-Jazeera region, the Union of Kurds - Syria, the intellectuals Union Kobani."
After the statement, the intellectuals began to plant olive trees in schools, martyrs' shrines and public facilities in the city of Kobani and its villages, and then move to the city of Tel –Abyed for the cultivation of olives.
