Nagy to Khartoum to call for resumption of dialogue

The United States Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Tibor Peter Nagy, will visit Khartoum in the next few days to call for a "resumption" of dialogue between the Transitional Military Council and the leaders of the protest movement, who are demanding the army hand over power to civilians.

The US State Department said in a statement that the visit of , Tibor Peter Nagy to Sudan is part of the African tour from 12 to 23 June.

During his visit to the Sudan, , Tibor Peter Nagy will meet representatives of both the military junta and the protest movement.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the tour will be followed by a stopover in Ethiopia, where the headquarters of the African Union, noting that the Assistant Secretary of State will discuss in Addis Ababa with African Union officials "efforts to support a political solution" in Sudan.

The US diplomat's tour will also include South Africa where he will deliver a speech on the African policy of the administration of US President Donald Trump in Johannesburg. Nagy will travel to Mozambique where he will attend the African-American Business Summit in Maputo.
