Since the occupation of Afrin canton on March 18 of 2018, the crimes of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries against the people of Afrin have increased day by day, including murder, theft, kidnapping and extortion, the demographic change, looting and destruction of archaeological sites and even the nature.
Mustafa said: “A number of international human rights organizations and the International Investigation Committee on Syrian Affairs issued several reports confirming that the crimes that the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries in Afrin, amounted to collective war crimes and crimes against humanity. "
"Unfortunately, these crimes continue against the people of Afrin without any deterrence," he added.
Gabriel Mustafa revealed the outcome of the crimes of the Turkish occupier and its mercenaries in Afrin during the past three months, saying: “Since the start of the new year, the number of the kidnapped exceeded more than 200, including 25 women, children and minors. Security forces reached 20 dead, and they continued to bomb al-Shahba canton, committing massacres that killed children and women, and destroying public and private facilities.
He added: "The Turkish occupation and its mercenaries cut down more than three thousand and two hundred olive trees within three months, and seized more than 11 thousand olive trees in the districts of Bulbul, Rajo, Shera, and the village of Maydankê, and to continue the demographic change approach by building settlements in Jabal Hajj Hasanu in the Jindirsê district in occupied Afrin. "
Mustafa continued: “Despite treports and files confirming that Turkey and its mercenaries committed crimes against humanity, these crimes do not constitute 20% of the crimes that occur in occupied Afrin, meaning that the cases of kidnapping, looting, theft and extortion are much more than what we document, but because of the imposition of security terrorism by the Turkish intelligence and its mercenaries, people cannot reveal all these crimes. "
Gabriel Mustafa called on the international community to immediately intervene to stop these crimes and said: "Because Turkey and its mercenaries have made Afrin a center for terrorist training and sending them to several regions of Libya, Azerbaijan and Yemen."
At the end of his speech, Gabriel Mustafa called for the formation of a neutral committee to investigate the crimes committed by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries against the people, stressing that the crimes that occur in Afrin exceeded war crimes.
