Macron strongly criticizes Ankara for its interference in the interest of Azerbaijan

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his deep concern about the stances put forward by Turkey against the backdrop of renewed fighting in the disputed Karabakh region between Armenia and Azerbaijan, describing Ankara's actions as dangerous and reckless.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday, according to Reuters, that the Turkish war rhetoric encourages Azerbaijan to re-occupy Nagorno-Karabakh and that this is unacceptable and unavoidable.

"I have noticed the Turkish political statements in favor of Azerbaijan, which I think are reckless and dangerous," Macron added.

Macron confirmed that he intends to discuss the issue later in the day with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and tomorrow with US President Donald Trump, as Paris, Moscow and Washington were co-chairs of the Minsk Group for Settling the Situation in Karabakh of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

The Turkish side had previously announced its readiness to provide any kind of support requested by Azerbaijan in light of the new escalation in Nagorny Karabakh.
