Libyan army launches counter-attack east of Misurata

The Libyan National Army spokesman, Major General Ahmed Al-Mesmari, said on Saturday that the armed forces are launching a counter-attack against the militias backed by Turkish forces, in Al-Hisha area, east of Misrata.

Al-Mesmari said that the attack came "after a series of air strikes on enemy positions by our warplanes."

He also pointed out that the Libyan army combat fighters "are still providing heavy air cover and fire support to the ground forces until now."

Al-Mismari had stated in a press conference on Friday that the Libyan army withdrew from Tarhuna in order to save the lives of civilians there, in view of the intense raids launched by Turkish aircraft marching on his forces.
