Lavrov: Washington's increased military forces in Middle East to lead to new risks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, commenting on the intention of US President Donald Trump to send 1,500 additional troops to the Middle East, and said: "Any increase in military capabilities will lead to new risks."

"As for President Trump's decision to send 1,500 troops as an addition to those deployed in the Middle East and North Africa region, as you know, the greater the military potential, the greater the risk," Lavrov told a news conference in Moscow.

On Friday, May 24, 2019, US President Donald Trump announced that they would send 1,500 troops to the Middle East, most of them under preventive measures, as tension with Iran escalated.
