Lavrov to meet Çavuşoğlu in Munich on Sunday

Russian Foreign Ministry sources said that a meeting between Lavrov and Çavuşoğlu is planned for Sunday on the sidelines of the Munich Conference on International Security.

Interfax news agency quoted a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying that a meeting is being planned between Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Çavuşoğlu on Sunday on the sidelines of the Munich International Security Conference.

The source said: "Such a meeting is under preparation."

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that Lavrov would head the Russian delegation participating in the 56th session of the Munich Conference on Security Policy Issues, scheduled for February 14-16, adding that a large number of meetings, contacts and talks at the bilateral and multilateral levels are being planned on the sidelines of this conference.

The meeting comes after the failure of the Russian-Turkish talks for the second time in Ankara, and the contacts of the Turkish and Russian President regarding the escalation in Idlib, during which Turkish soldiers were killed and the regime forces took control of important areas.
