The battle of Kobani had formed an important historical event against Islamic State's gangs backed -Turkish occupation and its elimination from the Syrian lands, in conjunction with international sympathy that was crownedby SDF with a global victory over ISIS, what constituted a Turkish setback that Turkey subsequently worked to avenge by declaring war on Syrian regions in the north and east of the country, and its repeated threats against Kobani, coinciding with the deployment of thousands of mercenaries in Syria, Libya, and other African and European countries.
Today, January 26, the 5th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Kobani from ISIS mercenaries, after 134 days of fighting.
This defeat, which was the first and most influential for ISIS, contributed to radical changes on the Syrian scene, and in this file that we prepared, we return to talking about the events of the war in Kobani and the periods that preceded it and then followed until the present time.
ISIS penetrates into Syria and Iraq
Amid the foggy scene that Syria witnessed in early 2014, while the country was heading towards destruction, and at a time when there was no serious international movement towards the bloody conflict, groups depended on atrocities practices and massacres against the Syrian people to force them to follow their ideology such as ISIS.
It wasn't long before ISIS - whose strength at that time did not exceed hundreds of mercenaries - occupied large areas of Syria and its neighbor Iraq, as the major cities of Mesopotamia "Mosul" fell within hours in the hands of ISIS, as well as "al-Raqqa" in Syria, and seized the major camps of the Syrian and Iraqi Armies, who executed hundreds of soldiers by firing squad, and the crisis in Syria took another course.
ISIS is dragging the war into the besieged Kobani, with Turkish support
ISIS has benefited from the media momentum that has been promoted in its favor as an indomitable force, as it controls any area to which it heads within hours, and after agreements with Turkish intelligence according to documents revealed by former ISIS Amir's, ISIS made three attempts to penetrate into areas close to the city of Kobani except It is doomed to bring thousands of its mercenary combat fighters who fought earlier in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other countries, and drag tens of tanks that had been seizedfrom the Syrian and Iraqi armies into the besieged city of Kobani two years earlier to control it.
Turkey and ISIS had the same goal, which is to eliminate the city from which the revolution of the 19th of July was launched in northern Syria, when elements of the Syrian regime were driven out of the city by the local population, so that the spark of the revolution would extend to the rest of the cities in the north of the country, which was not moral, political and military of Autonomous Administration in North and East of Syria, and makes ISIS a beneficiary of the border crossing with Turkey.
300 villages were occupied by ISIS within days, fierce battles on the city's streets
ISIS became on the outskirts of the city of Kobani in early October of 2014, after occupying three hundred villages in a matter of days, and the region was struck by a large wave of displacement, as more than 300,000 civilians, mostly women and children, were forced to go to Suruj in north Kurdistan, within the Turkish political borders, to form a human wall to prevent the infiltration of mercenaries from the Turkish border into the city's neighborhoods, in conjunction with hundreds of young men and elderly people staying in the city to fight the fateful battle in their homes in front of the most brutal groups, and armed with the latest types of heavy and medium weapons.
The fighters holed up in the last two neighborhoods of the city decided to defend it, and deterred the attack despite the light weapons they possessed, as they were able to stop the expansion of ISIS mercenaries inside the city's districts for 21 days, until the international coalition aircraft arrived, and the mercenaries were bombed inside the city, so that the fighters of the people and Women and Protection Units YPJ,YPG, where the fighters fought bravely and made advance inside the city, and liberated number of neighborhoods.
The world rises in support of the resistance in Kobani
On November 1, 2014, it was declared the International Day of Solidarity with the Resistance in Kobani, as airports, most public facilities in European cities, United Nations buildings, and human rights organizations were filled with solidarity with the fighters who were defending Kobani at the time. The demonstrators chanted slogans condemning the Turkish state, which supported ISIS directly during the battles in the city.
Pictures of UN fighters, and YPG, YPJ who fought in Kobani were hung in public streets in various cities around the world, in Japan, Argentina and Afghanistan, along with dozens of European countries, and the world's eyes are turning towards the fateful battle that concerns the fate of every citizen who lives safely and stability in all countries of the world.
ISIS suffered its first defeat in Kobani
With ISIS mercenaries fighting their fiercest battles in allays and streets of Kobani, the total number of ISIS affiliates from various countries of the world, especially the countries of the Arab Maghreb, reached 300 thousand mercenaries, deployed in Syria and Iraq, according to a statistic revealed by one of the ISIS Amir detained by the Syrian Democratic Forces SDF Since 2017.
After more than 3,000 mercenaries lost control of the last two neighborhoods of the city, ISIS retreated due to the losses it had suffered as a result of the heroic resistance shown by the fighters, especially in the Battle of Murshid Pinar border between Kobani and the Turkish territories.
ISIS retreated until a coalition of Women's Protection Units, People’s Protection Units YPG, YPJ, fighters of the Free Syrian Army, and international fighters liberated all of the city’s neighborhoods, and declared a great victory on January 26, 2015 after the fierce battles which lasted of 134 days in the Syrian square during the country's civil war, the YPG raised its flag on the hill of "Kania Kordan" east of the city, in a sign of the liberation of the entire city, and hundreds of cities had celebrated by this victory over ISIS.
On January 26, 2015, the YPG liberated entire Kobani from ISIS, marking a turning point in the track of the war in Syria and Iraq against terrorism, especially after the two countries lost large areas of their territory to ISIS.
As a result of the battles that lasted for months, 70 percent of the city's area of seven square kilometers was destroyed, 30 percent were totally destroyed north and city center, while 40 percent of the city's area was partially destroyed.
ISIS is falling back amid rumors and justifications
After killing more than 6000 of its mercenaries inside the city, and thousands of others were wounded, the remaining ISIS mercenaries were forced in Kobani to flee to nearby areas, which they controlled, and to lose areas previously occupied by the day, to lose more than 350 villages within weeks.
This came amid versions, or video scenes, that mercenaries broadcast on his agency, "Amaq news ", from the city center, which was devastated, as he said that it was forced to withdraw, after they left the city as rubble for its owners. ISIS, expressing their dissatisfaction with the plan to attack Kobani, and the killing of thousands of mercenaries in that city.
An international welcome to the People and Women Protection Units
International welcome to YPJ, YPG continued after repelling the ISIS attack on northern Syria, which was a threat to most countries of the world, especially the West, in conjunction with run over, bombing, and stabbing operations, which ISIS had adopted in a number of European cities.
On November 10, 2015, days after the liberation of Kobani, French President François Hollande received at the Elysée Palace in the capital of Paris, the leadership of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) Nisreen Abdullah, and the former co-chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) Asia Abdullah, to discuss ways to eliminate ISIS, as it was considered France is one of the most effective countries within the International Coalition, which is formed to end ISIS in Syria and Iraq.
On the other hand, representatives of the Autonomous Administration were received in a number of meetings of the European Parliament to discuss developments on the Syrian scene, strengthening relations between the administration and European Union countries, and explaining what Turkey and its mercenaries wants in Syria is just to spread destruction and displacement.
The alliance of components and the war against ISIS leads to the formation of SDF
After the announcement of the liberation of Kobani, these forces headed towards Kari Tel Abyad to liberate the city on June 15, 2015, and severe siege imposed on Kobani imposed by ISIS and before Jabhet al-Nusra was dismantled, and lasted for three years, and a few weeks later, the YPG issued a statement on the 27th of the month July, at one o'clock in the afternoon, through which it announced the liberation of the town of Sarrin, south of Kobani.
On October 10, 2015, in Al-Jazeera region was declared of the formation Syrian Democratic Forces, Syriac, Armenian, Arab, Assyrian, and Kurdish, includes more than 20 military factions, most notably Katayib al-Shamal, Liwa al-Raqqa, Syriac Military Council, Jabhet al-Akrad, Liwa Shohadda al-Hasakah, YPJ, YPG, in a second step to march towards the liberation of all areas of northern Syria after the first step through which Kobani was liberated under the banner of the "Euphrates Volcano Operations Room".
Iraqi and Syrian's armies like SDF, retrieve number of the cities from ISIS
After the heavy losses suffered by ISIS in northern Syria, its loss of the city of Manbij, its most important stronghold in the country, and the supply line between its areas of control and Turkey, its main supporter, following a military campaign led by the Syrian Democratic Forces in the summer of 2016, the Syrian and Iraqi armies began to mass their forces near the areas that ISIS controls.
The Syrian regime started a massive military operation, targeting ISIS sites and fortifications in the eastern countryside of Aleppo Governorate, and took control of hundreds of villages within weeks, coinciding with the start of the Iraqi forces and the PMF in the process of liberating Mosul, the largest city that ISIS had seized at the beginning of 2014, and ISIS appeared The name, which terrified the world, is slowly receding.
A Turkish setback ... al-Baghouz is the end of ISIS's illusions
On November 5, 2016, the Syrian Democratic Forces began formally announcing the campaign to liberate Raqqa and its countryside from ISIS, under the name "The Euphrates Angary Campaign", and the first phase of the campaign started from two axes, the first from the Ain Issa front, and the second from Suluk front, where the two forces advanced from the two axes, aiming to liberate the northern countryside.
The SDF managed to liberate the city of al-Tabqa, al- Tabqa Dam, which is considered the largest in Syria, al-Tabqa Military Airport, the towns of Karama, Mansoura, Safsafa and dozens of towns and villages, from the north, south and west as well, until it imposed a cordon on the city of al-Raqqa from its four sides.
As ISIS was unable to withstand much from the bombing of the International Coalition aircraft, and the SDF fighters who came from all the Syrian lands, and contributed by various means to defeat SIS, in its alleged capital al-Raqqa city, to be announced in late October 2017 liberating the entire city from ISIS.
The Syrian cities, towns, and villages were liberated day after day, and ISIS began to collapse after losing cities such as Manbaj, al-Tabqa, and al-Raqqa, until it was trapped in a geographical area of no more than 1,000 square meters in al-Baghouz, as 3 thousand mercenaries and their families surrendered to the SDF, after fierce battles between two sides which lasted for months.
ISIS, considered by many to be the most dangerous terrorist group in the world, lived its last moments in its last stronghold in the town of al-Baghouz in eastern Syria, before the SDF announced the defeat of ISIS 5 years after its emergence, where they retreated for the first time in the kobani's battle.
The bombing and Turkish threats that affected the Syrian border areas in order to give moral impetus to ISIS in its fateful war in its last pocket did not calm down, as dozens of agencies, and secret documents documented the strong relationship between the Turkish intelligence MIT and ISIS in a plan to control areas in Syria and Iraq, most of which were unsuccessful except for the sitcom between ISIS and the Turkish occupation army in Jarablus and al-Bab, as ISIS surrendered north of Aleppo to Turkey without any major battles and losses.
Turkey is the new global terrorism
Accusations have emerged between states and parties about ISIS supporters, but the West and the Middle East countries are no different in some of the shy accusations that Turkey and Qatar are the main supporters, and directly to ISIS.
Turkey, which claimed its knowledge in the hideout of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who was killed in a special American operation, only 5 kilometers from the Turkish border in Idlib governorate, which was also considered a safe haven and a bridge to transport mercenaries to Syria, in order to implement its occupation projects, has repeatedly refused calls for the Autonomous Administration in North and East of Syria to prosecute ISIS element who are existed in Syria.
There is no doubt that the world will witness a greater danger in 2020, at a time when the Turkish state is the starting point for thousands of mercenaries deployed in Syria, Iraq and North Africa. The invasion that affected the regions of NE, Syria through which Turkey managed to release dozens of the most dangerous mercenaries in the World, From the prisons of the Syrian Democratic Forces, as well as the ISIS families who fled in hundreds of Ain Issa camp in northern Syria.
Things did not differ on the Syrians, as videotapes and pictures of ex-ISIS elements fighting alongside the Turkish occupation army demonstrated control of Syrian cities, amid international silence, in addition to revenge operations whose approach and manner of implementation do not differ from what ISIS carried out, such as killing the Secretary-General The previous Syria Future Party, Hevrin Khalaf, and a number of citizens on the M4 international road months ago.
Erdogan also renews threats to the West by sending waves of refugees, hiding under the cloak of this term (the terrorists that Turkey intends to send and threatening the security of European countries through them).
Turkey does not hesitate to threaten the city of Kobani, which has solidarity with its resistance against ISIS, the peoples of more than 93 countries around the world, as Turkey considers the inhabitants of this region who are defending their lands as terrorists.
