Kazakhstan prejudged outcomes of Astana pessimistically

The Kazakhstani Foreign Ministry, prejudged  the outcome of the 12th round of Astana meetings on Syria and said, "It will not be held before June."

Director of the Asian and African Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Idrbik Tomatov, confirmed that the next round of Astana talks on Syria will not be held before June.

"I think it is not before June," Tomatov told reporters on Friday.

The 12th round of the Astana meetings on the Syrian issue ended on Friday in a dispute between the so-called Guarantor States on the Constitutional Committee and the lack of progress in discussing the situation in Idlib today without any prospect of understanding.

In the so-called demilitarized zones, mercenary groups launched offensive and violent attacks on the positions of the regime forces in Sehl al-Ghab in the countryside of Hama, while the countryside of Idlib and Hama witnessed heavy flights of Russian aircraft and launched raids on areas in Jabal al-Zawiya.
