Iraq announces massive operations to eradicate ISIS remnants

The Iraqi Military Media Cell announced the launching of the operations of the "Iraq Phase IV" to pursue the remnants of "terrorism" and impose security and stability in Diyala province, with the clearing and inspection of the border strip with Iran.

The Media Cell said in a statement: "Under the guidance of the Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and under the supervision of the Joint Operations Command, this morning, 2020 (Operation Heroes Operations / Fourth Stage), was launched at dawn today to pursue the remnants of terrorism and impose security and stability in Diyala Province.

The statement added, "clearing and inspecting the border strip with the Islamic Republic of Iran and entering into special operations within the areas that ISIS exploited for its existence and carrying out its" terrorist "operations, which are the areas separating the federal forces and the Kurdish Peshmerga forces."

The statement pointed out that the operations are targeting at this stage a large area estimated at 17,685 square kilometers, with the participation of forces from (Land Forces Command, Diyala Operations Command, Salah al-Din Operations Command, Samarra Operations Command, Federal Police Forces Command, Rapid Response Forces, Popular Mobilization Forces , Two special forces brigades, the eighth brigade, the border forces, the counterterrorism service / second special operations command, the counterterrorism regiment of Sulaimaniyah, the Diyala provincial police command), with the support of the army, air force, and international coalition aircraft.

These operations were distinguished towards important and specific objectives, with special operations.
