India summons Ambassador of Turkey to protest against Erdogan's statements

India summoned the Turkish ambassador, on Monday, to lodge a diplomatic protest against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statements regarding the disputed Kashmir region with Pakistan, and confirmed that Erdogan's position set another example of Turkey's interference in the affairs of other countries.

The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it had informed the Turkish ambassador Shaker Ozcan Torunlar that Erdogan's statements lacked an understanding of the history of the Kashmir conflict.

"The last position is another example of the Turkish interference in other countries' internal affairs, and India regards this as totally unacceptable," said ministry spokesman Ravesh Kumar.

Erdogan said, during a visit to Pakistan last week, that the situation of Indian Kashmir is deteriorating because of the fundamental changes that New Delhi has implemented in the Muslim-majority region and that Turkey is in solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
