In response to Erdogan's threats, Global Coalition praises SDF's role in stabilizing

Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve against ISIS(CJTF–OIR) has stressed the importance of the role played by the Syrian Democratic Forces in northern and eastern Syria, in response to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's recent statements in which he renewed the threat to invade the region.

According to RT, the US-led Coalition said in a statement that in conjunction with SDF forces, in the past four months it has captured more than 225 ISIS mercenaries and removed about two tonnes of explosives from battlefields in the past two months.

"Our partners continue to carry out difficult operations to pursue ISIS relentlessly and eliminate the future of its presence in northeastern Syria," said Major General Eric Hill of the US Air Force.

He pointed out that "the Syrian Democratic Forces recently supported the efforts of the US-Turkish agreement on (a security mechanism), through the removal of fortifications and the removal of negotiated forces and heavy weapons away from the Turkish-Syrian border."

"Security challenges still await us, but our partners(SDF) are taking the right steps to support the region to ensure the permanent defeat of ISIS."

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has confirmed that his country will launch a unilateral military operation in northern Syria, in the event of his forces unable to control the safe area.

"We no longer have patience with the establishment of a safe zone in the east of the Euphrates along our border, we will implement our own operation plan, if our soldiers are unable to control the area within a few weeks, " said Erdogan in a speech at the ceremony of the graduation ceremony of the Military Academy graduates at the National Defense University in Istanbul.
