​​​​​​​Haftar, Aqila Saleh in Cairo to discuss developments in Libyan arena

The Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, arrived today, Tuesday, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to meet with a number of Egyptian officials, to discuss the latest developments on the field situation in Libya and ways to support a political solution to the crisis.

Counselor Agila Saleh, Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, arrived this evening, Tuesday, to Cairo, where he is discussing with senior Egyptian officials the developments of the situation in Libya.

Libyan military sources confirmed that the General Commander of the National Army arrived in Cairo on a special plane accompanied by a military delegation, noting that the visit comes within the framework of coordination and consultation with Cairo in a number of files, most notably the fight against terrorism.

The Haftar's visit, to Cairo coincided with the visit of Aqila Saleh, and the meetings are scheduled to discuss the Geneva initiatives.

This comes within the framework of the efforts made by the Egyptian state to preserve the security and stability of Libya and support the means for a political solution within the framework of a "Libyan - Libyan" dialogue that leads the country out of the current crisis, which needs all the Libyan people to join hands to build an institutional state and establish law.

Cairo continues its efforts to establish a political solution in Libya and save the neighboring country from the crisis of the proliferation of terrorist militias and mercenaries operating under the banner of the Turkish-backed government of Accord, in light of the repercussions for preserving Egyptian and Arab national security.

The Egyptian state is pursuing a strategy of opening up to all Libyan parties supporting a political solution, as part of its support for efforts to defuse the crisis in the country.
