Under 'Afrin Under Turkish Occupation and International Interests' the Human Rights Organization- Afrin –Syria in cooperation with the Syria's Democratic Council prepare to hold a forum in the Shahba Canton to shed light on crimes committed in Afrin Canton by the Turkish occupation forces and the affiliated mercenary groups since the canon came under Turkish fire and shelling as of 20 January 2018.
The forum is scheduled to be held in the Berxwedan IDP Camp in the Fafine district of the Shahba Canton on 10 May.
Three topics are to top agendas; one to define Afrin historically and geographically and the crimes committed under the international laws, second the mechanism of solution and the way to end the occupation in Afrin Canton and the recommendations to be made at the end of the forum.
On the issue ANHA met Ibrahim Sheikho spokesperson for the Human Rights Organization- Afrin –Syria and member of the Preparatory Committee of the Forum.
Sheikh said that the blackmail regarding the Turkish occupation forces and the mercenary groups crimes in the Afrin Canton is proper. Saying there is much press on those media outlets that try to reveal the actual reality in the occupied areas.
Sheikh said the forum aims to convey the voice of Afrin IDPs in the Shahba Canton to the international arenas and the concerned human and legal rights foundations and associations.
Sheikho added stress is going to be laid on all crimes committed in Afrin as a number of legal and political figures and personalities from Syrian and North and East Syria are invited to attend the forum in addition to a number of lawyers and politicians from U.S. and Europe as well from Egypt and Southern Kurdistan to take part virtually in the forum.
Sheikh said that Human Rights Organization Afrin- Syria sent a letter to the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guteres on the latest statement made by the Turkish president Recp Tayyip Erdogan calling for the voluntary return of more than a million Syrian refugees living in Turkey to return the Syrian territories in the north as if these areas were safe.
Sheikh noted that they conveyed to the world what actual reality of what is happening in Afrin and other occupied areas by the Turkish occupation forces and the affiliated mercenary groups and that the Turkish policy seeks to create a sedition between Arabs and Kurds.
Sheikh said they support the return of Syrians to their homes and villages not to another place to bring a demographic change in Syria that is sought by Turkey after the withdrawal of the Turkish occupation forces from Syria.
Sheikh said that at the end of the forum a committee would be created to follow suit the outcomes of the forum to be sent to concerned bodies to put pressure on the Turkish occupation state to stop crimes in Afrin and other occupied areas of the Syrian territories.
