Erdogan asks for NATO support

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called the NATO for additional support for Turkey in Syria as soon as possible.

The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on NATO to provide the support to Turkey in Syria as soon as possible, stressing that this support is about defending Turkey.

"Turkey has been fighting threats and risks from Syria for nine years, NATO should provide the additional support that Turkey has requested as soon as possible," Erdogan said in a press statement ahead of a meeting with NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg.

Erdogan added: "The support that we are asking for, relates to the defense of Turkey." Tensions between Turkey, on the one hand and Russia on the other, escalated in Idlib, where Turkish soldiers were killed.
