​​​​​​​Egyptian Foreign Minister arrives to Damascus

The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, arrived today, to Damascus International Airport, on a visit that is the first in 12 years.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister arrived to Damascus today, where he was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Damascus government, Faysal al-Miqdad, in Damascus International Airport.

And the Egyptian authorities announced earlier today that, "President of the Republic, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, assigned the Minister of Foreign Affairs of heading to Syria and Turkey to offer condolences for the earthquake victims, and to convey a message of support and assistance to the two brotherly countries in the current humanitarian ordeal."

Shoukry's visit to Damascus came after a phone call between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Bashar Al-Assad.

This is the first visit by an Egyptian foreign minister to Damascus since the outbreak of the crisis in Syria in 2011.
