Cov postpones people's assembly elections

The Syrian government has announced that the April 13th elections for the People's Assembly have been postponed to May 20th due to concerns about the emerging global epidemic coronavirus( pandemic).

" The Syrian President Bashar al-Assad issued Decree No. 86 for 2020 postponing the elections of members of the People's Assembly for the third legislative round set by Decree No. 76 for 2020 on April 13, 2020, to Wednesday, May 20, 2020, according to the Syrian Presidency's Facebook page.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claimed that the number of cases that have been quarantined as a result of the outbreak of the Coronavirus in the areas under the control of the Syrian government has reached 113, while the Syrian government denied this and confirmed that there are no infections to date.

The Syrian government announced the suspension of classes in universities, schools and public and private technical institutes from tomorrow 14/3 to 2/4 of this year, in order to cope with the coronavirus.

The Autonomous Administration of the North and East of Syria has also decided to ban gatherings, close border crossings and disrupt schools, institutes and universities, as a precautionary measure to prevent the threat of coronavirus.
