Coalition suspends training Iraqi army

The international coalition for fighting ISIS has announced the start of withdrawing the assigned forces for training the Iraqi army, due to the spread of the new Corona virus.

Earlier on Thursday, the British Ministry of Defense announced that it would withdraw part of its troops working as part of the training mission in Iraq as a "precautionary measure."

The iraqi army suspended all training activities in early March to reduce the risk of the disease outbreak among its forces, the official said on condition of anonymity.

On Thursday, Iraqi forces officially handed  Al-Qaim military base on the border with Syria after the withdrawal of the international coalition forces for fighting ISIS.

The handover ceremony for al-Qaeda took place two days ago.

The international coalition said in a statement that it would redeploy and transfer personnel and equipment to several military bases in Iraq in 2020.
