Haaretz newspaper reported that Du (58 years old) was found dead in his apartment in a Tel Aviv suburb, about 3 months after he was appointed to his post.
The newspaper added that the Israeli police had opened an investigation into the accident.
The ambassador was born in Shandong Province in east China in 1962 and holds a master's degree in law.
Du started his diplomatic career with the Chinese Foreign Ministry in 1989, and took up assignments in various departments such as the Administration of the Former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
He also held diplomatic duties outside China in countries such as Estonia and Ukraine, and in February 2020 he became the Chinese ambassador to Israel.
