The Center for Research and Protection of Women’s Rights in Syria issued a statement to the public opinion, in which it revealed launching a campaign to collect signatures to investigate the file of the Secretary General of the Future Syria Party, Hevrin Khalaf, who was assassinated by Ahrar Sharqiya factions backed by Turkey on October 12, 2019.
The statement was issued in the building of the Center for Research and Protection of Women's Rights, located in the neighborhood of Arubuiya in Qamishlo, in the presence of the members of the center.
The statement was read in Arabic by a member of the founding body of the Center for Research and Protection of Women's Rights in Syria, Nafusa Hasso.
The statement included:
“The Research and Protection Center for Women’s Rights in Syria worked on the file of Eng. Hevrin Khalaf, Secretary General of the Future Syria Party, since the first day of her assassination by the pro-Turkish faction of Ahrar faction, where the center collected some evidence, and listened to witnesses of this horrific crime, in order to present it to the concerned judicial domestic and international authorities.
As a continuation of that work, and in order to achieve justice for Hevrin Khalaf, who fought for a pluralist democracy in Syria, and brought together all components of the Syrian people under one roof to achieve its goal in bringing Syria to safety and peace, where brotherhood and coexistence.
We at the Research and Protection Center for Women’s Rights in Syria are launching today 6/7/2020 with a campaign to collect signatures under the slogan “Justice for Hevrin Khalaf”, and it will continue until Wednesday, 6/8/2020, in order to pressure the decision and work centers to accept and transfer Hevrin Khalaf's file to international courts to punish the perpetrators of this brutal crime against her and other women.
Accordingly, we invite all civil society organizations, political, legal, and artistic personalities and everyone who responds to our appeal, to sign this petition, which the center will present to the relevant authorities, because achieving justice for Hevrin Khalaf Secretary General of the Future Syria Party is a human rights gain for all of humanity. ”
