British newspaper: Washington will transfer its war means from Turkey's Incirlik to punish Erdogan

The British newspaper "The Times" revealed that Washington plans to transfer its war means from its main base in Turkey to the Greek island of Crete in order to "punish" the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for his recent actions.

According to the newspaper, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will take advantage of his visit to Greece this week to review proposals that provide for the transfer of major American means of warfare from Incirlik Air Base in Turkey to the Greek island of Crete, where the United States is looking to strengthen its military presence in the eastern Mediterranean.

According to The Times, Pompeo's visit to Greece came as a sign of US impatience with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's repeated provocations, most notably his insistence on purchasing Russian S-400 anti-aircraft systems despite strong opposition from the United States and Turkey's allies in North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
