Azerbaijan launches an attack on Karabakh in Armenia

On Sunday morning, Armenia announced that Azerbaijan was launching an attack against the Karabakh region, and that it had managed to shoot down two Azerbaijani helicopters and 3 drones.

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashnyan, said this morning: "The enemy has started an offensive against Karabakh, and the army is successfully controlling the situation."

The Armenian Ministry of Defense said that its forces shot down two Azerbaijani helicopters and three drones, blaming the leadership of Azerbaijan "fully" for what was happening.

For its part, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense stated that Armenia launched intense bombing of Azerbaijani army positions and towns near the front line, noting that civilians were killed and wounded.

The Azerbaijani defense added that the army is taking "response measures" and that the operational situation is under control.

The ministry confirmed the fact that an Azerbaijani air force helicopter was shot down in Karabakh, adding that its crew members were alive.

The date back of the conflict between the republics of Armenia and Azerbaijan go back to the year 1918 AD, in a mutual dispute to annex each of them to the territory of "Nagorny Karabakh" with the Armenian majority to their lands.
