Al-Youssef: Several parties behind assassinations, its goal to spread chaos, sedition

The co-chair of Deir-ez-Zor Civil Council, Ghassan al-Youssef, said that the assassinations targeting the sheikhs and elders of Deir-ez-Zor clans are attempts by some parties to provoke sedition and chaos, and also indicated that they are targeting national figures in a goal to strike co-existence and people's fraternity.

Deir-ez-Zor region is witnessing assassinations against the elders and clans' notables of the region, the most recent of which happened, on the morning of Eid al-Adha after the assassination of Mukhtar of the town of Dahla Ali al-Weis while he was going to perform the Eid al-Adha prayers and launched an attack on the house of a spokesman for the tribe of al-Aqidat Suleiman al-Kassar, in al-Basira area of Deir-ez-Zor countryside resulted in the loss of his life.

The co –chair of Deir-ez-Zor Civil Council, Ghassan al-Youssef, told our agency about this that "the assassinations are targeting tribal elders who are known for their national positions."

Al-Youssef, speaking of the parties behind the assassinations, indicated that more than one side is behind them, adding, "These unethical operations, which are far from humanity, are striking the unity between the Kurds and the Arabs."

While stressing that it also comes within the framework of provoking sedition and chaos in the region by targeting those seeking to spread a culture of co-existence.
