Today, the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria issued a statement to the public opinion, and made it clear that Turkey overtly overlooks all international decisions, including those related to ceasing hostilities in light of this pandemic, and called on the international community with all its institutions, especially the UN Security Council, as well as the United Nations, to show their responsibilities towards Turkish practices against our regions.
The text of the statement read:
"while the world is still suffering from the crisis of Corona (COVID-19) and the continuous endeavor to contain the devastating results of this disease; while the regions of northern and eastern Syria suffer from the lack of necessary attention by the World Health Organization, and the pursuit of the Autonomous Administration in preventing the spread of this virus through preventive measures in order to preserve the lives of nearly five million people in these regions, the Turkish state continues to prevent focus on these efforts and targets our regions in light of the cessation of hostilities by the whole world.
Public transgression of international resolutions
On the morning of Tuesday, April 28, 2020, the Turkish occupation state targeted Kobani canton, and before it al-Shahba regions, through intense bombing, which also caused severe damage and displaced hundreds of people who have originally been displaced from Afrin to al-Shahba, where they were not spared from the Turkish bombing even after being displaced from Afrin, these practices are only definitive indications of lack of interest and irresponsibility of Turkey regarding the need to cooperate to prevent the spread of Corona. Likewise, it is a public transgression of all international decisions, including those related to the cessation of hostilities in light of this pandemic, with confirmation that all evidence indicates Turkish occupation state’s lack of commitment to any international present covenants or charters which is strongly manifested in all areas of its occupation in Syria, particularly Afrin, Serekaniye, Ras al-Ain, and Girê Spi/ Tel Abyad.
The international community is responsible for Turkey's reckless behavior
We are in the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria, as we call for the necessity of cooperation and commitment to the internationally approved decisions to combat the Corona virus, we demand the international community with all its institutions, particularly the United Nations, the Security Council and the United Nations, to express their responsibilities towards Turkish practices against our regions, as the SDF are committed to the call of the United Nations to stop the conflict between all parties under these conditions and must be pressured for the need to adhere to this appeal, just as Russia and America have direct agreements with Turkey regarding its presence and mechanisms in northern and eastern Syria, also the Syrian Democratic Forces do not exist under these agreements in the areas that were attacked.
Therefore, we ask the countries of Russia and America to express their responsibilities and the need to work in order for Turkey to abide by those agreements where all parties to these agreements are responsible for the Turkish escalation in our regions.
These abuses create chaos and have definitive implications that Turkey does not realize the dangers of this virus, but rather takes advantage of all circumstances, including humanitarian cases, to implement its aggressive plans, so we call on all of the aforementioned parties to act and act with utmost speed to stop these attacks.
A Turkish drone has targeted a point of the Internal Security Forces in Kobani at dawn, and caused physical damage in the region.
