​​​​​​​11 citizens killed, injured by ISIS attack in Iraq

The Iraqi authorities announced the killing and wounding of 11 people during an attack by ISIS mercenaries on Diyala Governorate in Iraq.

The Security Media Cell said in a statement that 3 policemen and a civilian were killed as a result of ISIS mercenaries firing on the Zaganiya police station in Baquba district, Diyala Governorate.

The cell confirmed that the attack resulted in the injury of 2 elements of the security services and five civilians.

For his part, the designated Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kazemi, pledged to intensify the campaign against ISIS after the attack.

In recent weeks, attacks by suspected ISIS mercenaries have increased in frequency, especially in the rugged area between Kirkuk, Salah al-Din and Diyala provinces, known as the "Triangle of Death".

While the security media cell in Iraq announced last month that Iraqi forces had launched air strikes on areas sheltering ISIS mercenaries in Salah al-Din governorate.

In late 2017, Iraq declared victory over ISIS after it managed to recover the vast majority of the lands it seized years ago, while ISIS still maintains sleeper cells in large areas of Iraq and launches attacks between varying periods.
