Today, the Federal Court in Iraq is considering a lawsuit requesting that the authorities of southern Kurdistan be obliged to implement the federal government’s decision, which stipulates the closure of camps for the displaced until (June 30, 2024).

The Federal Court received a complaint from the Minister of Immigration and Displacement, Ivan Faiq, against Nechirvan, Masrour Barzani, and Reber Ahmed, on charges of preventing the displaced from returning to their homes, and demanded that they decide and implement Cabinet Resolution 24007 of 2024 and force those involved in violations to implement the decision.

The lawsuit aims to implement the Council of Ministers’ decision regarding the return of displaced persons in southern Kurdistan to their homes.

The lawsuit was registered on March 23, and it stated: “The Kurdistan Region prevents the return of displaced persons and immigrants to their homes.” The Iraqi government had previously announced that KDP was preventing their return.
