DAA: Liberation of Afrin is strategic choice
The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria confirmed “ Liberation of Afrin and our occupied regions is a strategic choice and a fateful decision.”
Today, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued a statement to public opinion, on the anniversary of the attack on the city of Afrin, which reads:
“ The sixth anniversary of the attack on the city of Afrin has come that embraced more than 250,000 people fleeing the scourge of war in Syria and established for itself an administrative system that matches the will and aspirations of its people, in Afrin the international values and morals were violated with the Turkish state’s use of dozens of warplanes and a massive barbaric attack, the aim of which was to undermine the will of Afrin and its people and target efforts for a real solution in Syria.
We note that the Turkish attacks that targeted Afrin and are still being carried out by the Turkish occupation state on NE Syria are systematic genocide and aggressive behavior, with the aim of undermining the will of our people and their insistence on building their free and democratic model, stressing that resistance and continuing the path of the martyrs of Afrin.
We at the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria affirm that there is no stability and no real solution without the liberation of the occupied areas, especially Afrin, and the withdrawal of the Turkish occupation state from it."
In conclusion, we call on all international powers, especially human rights organizations, the United Nations, and civil society organizations to consider the issue of Afrin as “the issue of a people subject to genocide” at all levels, including demographic change, kidnapping, killing, and attacks on Afrin’s landmarks and its ancient history, calling at the same time for the necessity of establishing International fact-finding, by investigating the practices of the Turkish state and the terrorist factions associated with it to trial those responsible for what is happening in Afrin, including the perpetrators and murderers.
