Political diversity of Kurdish, Arab, Syriac, Assyrian and Armenian political movements, movements, bodies, forces and parties, with different intellectual tendencies and orientations, active in the regions North and East Syria, and carrying out their work through a network of offices branching out in various cities, districts and towns. How many parties are licensed and unlicensed by the Political Parties Affairs Committee? 

On March 7, the Political Parties Affairs Committee in the Democratic Autonomous Administration issued Resolution No. 1 of 2024, giving unlicensed political parties and forces that carry out their work and political activity to review their relevant offices and submit a license application.

The decision came based on the meeting of the Political Parties Committee, which was held on March 5, 2024, and a deadline was given until April 1, for all unlicensed political parties and forces that practice their political activity to review the Affairs Office to submit a license application to Party Affairs, otherwise the Committee will take all legal measures against violators, after the expiry of the granted period.

The law licensing political parties in the Democratic Autonomous Administration was issued on May 20, 2018, by Decree No. 6.

According to the documented and official statistics we obtained, 40 parties and political forces out of more than 65 parties have obtained a license application from the Political Parties Affairs Committee of the Democratic Autonomous Administration.

Earlier, the Democratic Autonomous Administration withdrew the license from two political parties (the Free Patriotic Union Party in Rojava and the Kurdistan Republican Party).

The Democratic Autonomous Administration safeguards the freedom of political thought in its regions, and the individual can organize himself and express himself freely, and these matters are regulated in accordance with what was stated in Chapter Two of the Social Contract, which consists of a preamble, 4 chapters, and 134 articles, which was voted on on December 12, 2023.
