The Syrian crisis continues to escalate as its 9th year approaches, after the popular movement began on March 15, 2011, as a result of the intervention of several regional powers and countries in the Syrian crisis, such as Turkey, Russia and Iran, and their struggle to bite as much of the Syrian cake as possible in order to prolong the crisis. With its foreign interests through the Syrian reality, in addition to all meetings and forums which were held in trying to resolve the Syrian crisis have been failed to arrive to any points of understanding that gathered the Syrians on one dialogue tables to come out with common visions.
Syrian writer and political analyst Abdul Jalil al-Saeed explains in this context that the new UN envoy, Pederson, held a series of meetings with the actors and non-actors in the Syrian crisis, and said: "All this does not reflect positively on revitalization of the negotiating process which has been stopped "
The United Nations appointed Norwegian Diplomat Geir Pederson as its new envoy to Syria on October 31 last year, replacing former envoy Stephane De-Mestura, who was unable to find a formula to resolve the Syrian crisis between the conflict parties.
He noted Abdul Jalil al-Saeed that the Syrians have reached a state of discontent continued, the result of Iranian and Turkish intervention, "the two countries are trying to establish their presence as occupying powers in Syria as the influence of Assad's authority and the opposition on the areas under their control has been ebbed," he said.
"All Syrians need to sit with each other in order to find a common and effective vision that will break the political stalemate and weaken the destructive forces in Syria," he said.
Saudi Arabia can play a positive role in resolving the Syrian crisis
"The Arab role represented by the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Syria is a welcome role of all parties, and it is opposed only by the Assad regime as a result of its alignment with Iranian trends," he said.
