US calls for caution in airspace near Gulf as tension with Iran escalates

The US Federal Aviation Administration issued a warning to commercial airlines in the United States in which it advised to be vigilant when flying over Gulf waters and Gulf of Oman as tensions between Washington and Tehran continued to rise

According to Reuters, the Administration said in the warning that "the move comes amid an increase in the military activities and political tensions in the region, posing an increased casual threat to US civil aviation because of the possibility of underestimation or confusion in the identification of aircrafts."

Tension has increased over the past few days due to fears of a US-Iranian conflict.

Last week, the United States withdrew a number of diplomats from its embassy in Baghdad after last weekend attacks on four oil tankers in the Gulf.
