Tide between Trump and Rouhani

US President Donald Trump is ready to meet his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani without preconditions as the campaign of "extreme pressure" on Tehran continues, US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin said.

"Now the president has made it clear he will be pleased to have a meeting without preconditions, but we will continue to campaign with maximum pressure," the minister said, days after Iran announced the installation of centrifuges to increase its stockpiles of enriched uranium.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, according to Reuters, urged the United States to end its policy of "maximum pressure" on his country, and said that Tehran would reduce its commitments to the nuclear deal in 2015 if necessary.

"The United States must understand that militancy is useless and should abandon the policy of maximum pressure on Iran," Rowhani was quoted as saying.
