Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met with a delegation from the Syrian Democratic Council ahead of the start of an emergency meeting of the Arab League Ministerial Council, which is being held today at the request of Egypt to discuss the Turkish attack on northern and eastern Syria.
The delegation included the co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council Riad Dirar, CEO Ilham Ahmed and member of the Presidential Council of the Syrian Democratic Council Sihanouk Dibo.
The delegation briefed the Egyptian minister on the latest developments in the Syrian arena in light of the current Turkish attack.
Sihanouk Dibo, a member of the presidential council, said in an exclusive statement to Furat News Agency (ANF) after the meeting that the Egyptian foreign minister expressed Egypt's support for legitimate resistance in northern and eastern Syria in the face of the Turkish attack and stressed that it is legitimate resistance in accordance with Article 151 of the UN Charter.
Dibo explained that the Egyptian minister said that Erdogan formulates false arguments to establish crimes and breach of UN conventions, stressing that the Turkish occupation exposes the region to the risk of accidents and direct threat.
The Egyptian foreign minister stressed to the delegation that Egypt would make every effort to keep Syria united.
