Pope Francis: Civilians, including Christians forced to flee their homes as a result of Turkish attacks

Pope Francis said civilians, including Christians in northern and eastern Syria, have been forced to flee their homes due to Turkish attacks.

"Civilians, including Christian families, have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the Turkish attack," Pope Francis was quoted by the Associated Press as saying.

Speaking on Sunday at the end of the Mass, Pope Francis urged the international community to work with "sincerity, honesty and transparency" to find "effective solutions."

US President Donald Trump has been widely criticized from his evangelical Christian base for taking US troops out of northeast Syria. Critics say he risked the lives of allies in northern Syria who helped defeat ISIS in Syria.
