The coordinator of Kongra Star issued a written statement in which saluted the martyrs of Qamishlo uprising, which marks March 12th.
The text of Kongra Star’s statement is:
"The twelfth day of March coincides with the 16th anniversary of the Qamishlo uprising, whose spark started in the municipal stadium in Qamishlo, and reached all cities in Rojava, Aleppo, and Damascus, and turned into the people's uprising, where the regime wanted to create discord between the Arab and Kurdish component by organizing and inciting a group among the youth of the Arabs against the youth of the Kurds, during a football match, in which dozens of martyrs were killed.
On this day, we remember the martyrs of the Qamishlo uprising and all the martyrs of freedom.
The authoritarian nation-states, which pursued a policy of denial of other nationalities in order to strengthen their existence, practiced the most severe violence and injustice against the peoples of the region (arrests, torture in prisons, field executions, etc. .....), and those nationalities were also denied the exercise of their cultural rights legitimate by imposing a single language, a single religion, and fusion of all cultures and languages into the melting pot of chauvinistic Baathist nationalism.
However, with the dawn of the Rojava revolution, especially with the establishment of Democratic Autonomous Administration in the Rojava regions with the participation of all the Syrian people, those policies aimed at creating sectarian and civil strife among the components of the region were thwarted.
The conflict that has been going on in Syria for ten years, whether by armed groups and extremist forces represented by Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIS supported by the Turkish state, or through direct occupation by the Turkish state to the Syrian territories, has brought with it only the scourges of killing, displacement, and destruction, but peoples of the northern and eastern regions of Syria, in their cohesion, managed to administrate and protect their regions, and they proved that the project of the democratic nation is the key to the solution to the Syrian crisis.
However, the recent statements made by President Bashar al-Assad are not in the interest of the peoples of the region because it is a continuation of the policy of denial, and the perpetuation of the mentality of chauvinist nationalism against the peoples of the region, and the Kurdish people in particular, and this hinders the ways to solve the Syrian crisis and deepens it further, because this crisis can only be resolved through intra-Syrian dialogue.
We at Kongra Star represent part of the Autonomous Administrations formed in northern and eastern Syria and believe that the solution can only be achieved through the democratic project that we seek to build, to be a model in all Syrian cities, so we appeal to all Syrian women to stand together in order to build a pluralistic, decentralized Syria and achieve Security and stability in the region.
On this day, we pledge to our martyrs and people in northern and eastern Syria to proceed on the path of resistance and struggle to protect and preserve the gains of the people's revolution. "
