Haftar completes his European tour, meets Merkel

The Libyan National Army's Leader, the Marshal Khalifa Haftar, arrived in the German capital, Berlin, today at an official invitation of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss the latest developments on the Libyan scene.

A German government spokesman said in a statement quoted by Reuters: "The chancellor confirmed that there is no military solution to this conflict and that a ceasefire and progress in the political process are necessary for this reason."

This visit comes as part of a tour of the Leader of the National Army Haftar to several European countries, where he met yesterday evening with the French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace.

The Libyan National Army led by Haftar is fighting the Libyan Accord Government's forces that are supported by Turkey directly by sending troops, mercenaries and weapons despite its pledges during the Berlin conference.

The Turkish intervention in Libya, in addition to the issue of the Syrian refugees raises a sharp dispute between Turkey and the European countries which refused the Turkish blackmail to them.
