Graham: We will impose sanctions on Ankara that will cripple the Turkish economy

US Senator Lindsey Graham stressed that it is necessary to stop the bloodshed in northern Syria. "It is time for Turkey to be held accountable for its heinous attack on Syria," he said.

Graham said in a series of tweets on Twitter that he had spoken "just" with the US president, and hailed its decision to work with Congress to stop Turkey's aggression in Syria by imposing economic sanctions that will cripple the Turkish economy.

Graham noted that the Turkish adventure in Syria, if left unchecked, would lead to instability in the Middle East.

Graham stressed that it was time to hold Turkey accountable for its heinous attack on northern Syria.

Graham pointed to the sanctions that would be imposed on Turkey as a result of its attack on northern Syria will be more severe than the sanctions imposed by the United States on Iran.

The Republican senator pointed out that Turkey's crimes will contribute significantly to the return of ISIS and will strengthen the role of regional countries hostile to Washington.
